Our Approach

Industrial policy is no longer on the margins of political debate; it is firmly established as a strategic instrument for shaping economic structural change. Despite its growing importance, it is still often ideologically charged and not sufficiently grounded in research. The Industrial Policy Lab produces evidence-based knowledge on industrial policy measures, providing the foundation for a factual, data-driven, and nuanced debate.

Combining Expertise

The Industrial Policy Lab brings together the complementary expertise of its project partners; the Kiel Institute, ZEW Mannheim, and the Jacques Delors Centre, and builds on their long-standing strengths in industrial policy research. It connects an interdisciplinary team of researchers across institutions and fosters close collaboration with external partners, visiting researchers, and international institutions, while actively seeking new opportunities for collaboration.
